It all begins with growing up....
The quality of hoof in an adult horse, very much depend on where he grew up. In a stable? On the veld? As well as genetics.
Horses that grow up doing distance in a large veld,
with rocks, mountain, water etc seem to have a more 'natural' shape of hoof, harder and sometimes stronger.
To decide between shoeing and barefoot on your horse? That depends on the softness of sole, thickness of wall, as well as the type of work he does and the terrain he does it on. Simple as that. There is no such thing as "Every horse must wear shoes" or "All horses must go barefoot".
Stella does not shoe horses. Does this mean she is against shoeing? Definately not! "I find the equine hoof fascinating and right now I mainly concentrate on horses that just need a professional, balanced or corrective barefoot trim!"
